From The Great Gatsby to the 90s…

Wedding trends are always on the move – last year, it was chevron, and this year it’s trellis patterns. As DJs, we need to keep up with the latest trends in music, and yes, weddings. Aside from donning a blush-colored suit (this year’s hottest hue), we can take some hints from the articles below.
From this Huffington Post article:
Music that fits your theme. New York society bandleader Alex Donner says his clients are requesting music to go along with wedding themes ranging from films (The Great Gatsby) to locales (like France — all songs were performed in French!).
Short of finding an entire repertoire of songs in French, we can provide our clients with period-appropriate tracks from different genres of music. For a Great Gatsby Roaring 20s wedding, play some Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, and Sophie Tucker. For a Swing Dance theme, choose tracks with beats per minute of 128 and up, and include music from Count Basie, the Stray Cats, and even some Elvis or Van Morrison.
And from TheKnot.com:
The Dream of the ’90s Is Alive
Knowing that the ready-to-wear fashion runways, home design trends and even Billboard’s “The Hot 100” music list all influence wedding trends, it may not be surprising to hear that ’90s-inspired details are on trend for weddings this year. We’re talking temporary tattoo wedding favors (get them at Tattly, The Knot Shop and even Etsy), hip hop music groups or even break dancers to entertain guests while the band or DJ takes a break, and crop-top wedding dresses (Haley Paige, Tara La Tour and Houghton all have them in their collections). Love the idea? Do it in small doses — unless of course you want your wedding to look like it was inspired by Celine Dion.
So… of course – 90s music! According to VH1, the #1 song of the 90s is Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit. You can grab DJ AtWill’s ReMix here at Just4DJs.com:  Smells Like Teen Spirit (Divide Kreate Remix) (ReDrum)
Fortunately, the 90s are filled with awesome tracks like Tag Team’s Whoomp There It Is! and the Red Hot Chile Peppers’ Give It Away. There is no shortage of Celine Dion songs or throw-back Mariah for slow dancing, and your crowd might be excited to hear a little U2 or some Backstreet Boys after they’ve had a few drinks.
And of course, don’t forget to pick up ReMixes, ReDrums and Mashups of your brides’ favorite tunes at www.Just4DJs.com!
